Regional Manager, US Regions

About the Opportunity
Bridges Transitions Co., a leading provider of education, career development and test preparation products for schools across North America, is looking for experienced Regional Managers.

The Regional Manager is the corporate education expert and is responsible for all of Bridges' business in the region. This person has an excellent understanding of the education market, knows what happens in schools, and can relate key education market drivers to the appropriate company product offerings. The Regional Manager is comfortable interacting with state and national education leaders, superintendents, district level personnel, school principals and counselors. The goal of this position is to increase sales by developing strategic plans, opportunities and contacts to capture sales opportunities in the assigned region. Additionally, the Regional Manager will provide current market information, build relationships with key district and state accounts, and generally act as the organization's evangelist with major education organizations throughout the Region.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In addition to the following, other duties may be assigned:

  • Regional Manager will take total responsibility for the Bridges business in the Region.
  • Formulate a business plan for sales growth and profitability that takes into account the unique aspects of the Region including market share, customer buying habits, competitive activity, etc.
  • Defend the Regional Plan to management and accept accountability for the execution of the plan.
  • Develop and execute account plans for district and state level adoption of Bridges solutions in key and target accounts, to increase sale and usage of Bridges' products.
  • Build and maintain relationships with regional and state agencies and major education associations to represent Bridges products at appropriate decision making levels and establish Bridges products as industry standard.
  • Identify strategic and major sales opportunities and work with the National Director of Sales to achieve these sales.
  • Understand and customize sales and solutions for local-level funding and education objectives.
  • Call on prospective clients to introduce Bridges and explain type of services, products offered and implement company strategies for generating new and renewal sales.
  • Exceed volume goals for position such as number of contacts, number of up sells and referrals and new business revenue growth.
  • Capture all client contacts and dialogues into CRM and actively manage sales pipeline.
  • Make efficient use of available tools, Vantive, Breeze, etc.
  • Leverage external and internal resources and partners to support Region sales campaigns.
  • Direct campaigns to maximize regional funding, policy and customer reference sites.
  • Support strategic sales efforts by participating in planning sessions, strategic seminars and customer meetings, working to understand developments, changes and trends in education as they relate to company's products.
  • Understand the features and benefits of all the company's products and be able to relate those to customer needs. Work with the appropriate company product management personnel to ensure unmet needs are incorporated into the product planning process.
  • Monitor competitive markets and report findings.
  • Support national and state conference/tradeshow efforts by attending, presenting and representing the company.
  • Possess skills in managing a demanding schedule and prioritizing activities to optimize performance.
  • 30 to 40% of time will be spent calling on customers in person - travel in assigned region is required.
  • 60 to 70% of the time will be spent at Bridges' office or home office handling inbound inquiries and conducting sales activities.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Desired Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of sales experience.
  • Has, at a minimum, an associate's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to design, implement and lead a geographical business plan, with demonstrated ability to achieve growth and profitability in assigned region.
  • Strong sales skills in identifying decision and budget making processes, securing relationships and closing business.
  • Possess thorough understanding of K-12 education market, classroom to school to district and beyond.
  • Uses a friendly, professional, consultative approach, with the ability to relate to customer needs.
  • Experience in managing conferences and presentations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Excellent time and resource management skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Must have strong keyboarding, computer, and Internet skills and be proficient in use of typical business software packages such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Internet Explorer.

Ideal:

  • 7-10 years education sales experience.
  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proven record of building and executing business plans.
  • Proven success in selling products into educational organizations.
  • Track record of building successful customer networks for adoption of products and services.

Primary Interactions
Reporting to the National Director of Sales, regular contact with clients, sales and marketing management, sales representatives, customer service and sales administration.
