| In honor of Career and Technical Education Month, XAP and Bridges would like to recognize a CTE Educator each week for the month of February. Check back each week!
The state model for California Career and Technical Education changed in design. The new design is meant to prepare students for post-secondary education and a career, not just one or the other. Now, pathways organized around the state's major industry sectors are developed for students. Each pathway includes challenging technical courses and core academics that help students understand the link between their academic studies and the working world. "Mr. Bill Giovannetti single-handedly created, implemented and coordinates our California Career and Technical Education state model Manufacturing Production Technology Academy," says one of Giovannetti's colleagues. "Because of his vision and dedication to Career and Technical Education, our students have the opportunity to experience a true multiple-pathway program that helps them to develop life-long skills that encompass a broad range of career and technical options." At Giovannetti's school, students in the Academy continue to outpace non-Academy students in attendance, grade point average, California High School Exit Exam passing rates and four-year college-going rates. His students have not only entered the world of work after graduation, they have also been accepted to many prestigious public and private universities and United States military academies while pursuing a diverse range of majors, including engineering, pre-medicine, dentistry, science, math, psychology and education. XAP and Bridges congratulate Bill Giovannetti for his vision, dedication and leadership with the Academy that has helped so many students achieve their post-secondary goals. |
