Bridges Transitions

Dear Bridget

April 2009

  Dear Bridget,

I just discovered Choices Explorer and I love it! There is so much material that I know can really help my students.  But I am feeling a little overwhelmed by all of this information.

Is there a manual that can help me make the most of this great resource?

Sincerely,

Reid Manuel

"Know where to find the information and how to use it -- that's the secret of success."

I wish I'd said this first, but actually it was Albert Einstein. But let's pretend that I did.  And while I may not have Mr. Einstein's mastery of relativity, I do know one formula for success with Choices Explorer: the Professional Manual.

The Professional Manual is exactly the sort of how-to guide that I appreciate. You can find simple tips on creating a portfolio or in-depth descriptions of our articles and features. It's all relative!

Are you looking for information on how the Career Finder works or the steps to finding students' passwords? The Professional Manual has your answers.

As you've discovered, Choices Explorer is a huge resource. The Professional Manual will link you to the relevant section of Choices Explorer so you won't get lost in all the information.

As with many comprehensive reference tools, the table of contents is a good starting point for exploring. Our goal is to make the whole thing easy to understand. To quote Einstein again, "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler."

Each section ends with a list of frequently asked questions -- questions we've heard from users like you. (After all, Einstein also says, "The important thing is not to stop questioning.") To help you take your discoveries into the classroom, you'll find printable PDF versions of each page.

The Professional Manual is a great way to find out more about Choices Explorer. I have to say that it's a fantastic read!  I just wish there was an equivalent resource for every goal we try to achieve - although there does seem to be a good Einstein quotation for almost every situation.

Sincerely, Bridget
