Bridges Transitions

Dear Bridget

August 2009

  Dear Bridget,

I am starting the school year motivated and buff after spending the summer working with a personal trainer. Now I am ready to share my new energy with my students, helping them build career plans with muscle.

What about you? How did Choices Explorer increase its strength over the summer?

Sincerely,

Jim Shortts

Dear Jim,

Wow! I would give you a round of applause, but my arms are tired from the 100 pushups I just completed. I have been working hard too -- on my biceps and on Choices Explorer.

Of course, Choices Explorer is a team effort, just like your students' career planning process. As they race towards graduation, you're like a coach encouraging them along and monitoring their progress. And we've added the perfect tools to help you keep students on their game plan.

I am particularly excited about the Track Course Plans feature in the Tracker section of the Professional Tools. With this handy new feature, professionals can create reports showing the students who are on track for graduation, and those students who are not on track and may need additional coaching.

Students can monitor their own progress towards graduation in the Your Plans section of their portfolio. Ask any personal trainer: tracking your progress and seeing what you need to do is a great motivator.

We've also made student portfolios even stronger by increasing the storage size, so they are capable of storing even more info to help students personalize their plans.

Encourage your students to download personal projects and documents into the Things You've Saved section of the portfolio, and help them take ownership of their portfolios and their plans. Everyone's a winner when student are more involved in their planning.

Keep up the good work!

Sincerely, Bridget
