My students are so excited about summer! I know they'll return to school more relaxed and, in many cases, taller. It's funny how they grow so much over the summer -- just like my garden.
I would like to incorporate a little personal growth into their summer by encouraging them to use some of their free time for career and education planning.
Do you have any tips?

Dear Summer,
I think that's a great idea! Maybe it's the slower pace or the transitions we see all around us as things grow and blossom, but I have always found that summer is a great time to think about the future.
Because Choices Planner can be accessed from their home computers, students can use our great planning tools in between summer jobs, trips to the beach and whatever else their summer holds.
Here are just a few suggestions to boost summer usage:
- Encourage your students to make Choices Planner part of their summer surfing routine by adding it to their favourites, or tagging www.bridges.ca to their del.icio.us account.
- Provide every student with a copy of Choices Planner's Quick Start Guide before they head out the door.
- Help students prepare for summer employment by pointing them to the Getting Ready to Work activities.
- Increase parental awareness and support by customizing Choices Planner's Parent Letter.
- Initiate a school-wide contest to promote summer usage. Track participant progress with the reporting tools found in the Professional Tools section.
And on that note, I'm out of here for the summer! Have a good one and I'll see you again in August!
P.S. Speaking of summer, growth and all those good things, we're taking even more steps to reduce our own impact on the environment.
