Dear Bridget
August 2010
  Dear Bridget,

I am ready to go back to school! I have a clean classroom and a new wardrobe of the latest fall fashions. It's great to be so organized -- not to mention stylish.

It's all new and exciting until I look in my Choices Planner Professional Tools. In contrast to my freshly pressed flannel pants, my site administration is a bit of a mess, filled with duplicate and "creatively named" portfolios. Then there are those students who moved on to the next stage of their education but left behind their portfolios.

I know the comprehensive plans they created will never go out of style. What can I do with them?

Sincerely,

Rhett Trough

Dear Rhett,

I love back-to-school shopping too! New clothes of any kind are never out of style in my book. However, just as we have to rotate through our clothes to stay on the cutting edge of fashion and avoid appearing on an episode of Hoarders, it also helps to clean up Choices Planner's student portfolios.

Fortunately, our Site Administration's Delete and Release feature can help your students' portfolios look their best in any season.

If you see an improperly named portfolio -- or a duplicate one -- you can delete that portfolio. To keep your site's usage statistics on track, we recommend releasing portfolios when students graduate or transfer to a new school. Once they are released, they will no longer be attached to your Choices license or show up in your reports.

Released portfolios aren't just tossed in the virtual trash, however. The student can connect their portfolio to a new site using the Change Schools feature in the All About You section of their portfolio.

Your reports will be up to date and you can rest easy knowing your improved efficiency is helping you gather more accurate information about your students' plans.

Now if you'll excuse me, I think it's time to head to the mall. Until next time!
