Career Futures Technical FAQ
Get quick answers to some of the most commonly asked technical questions.
- When trying to launch Career Futures, we get a message indicating that "this version of Career Futures has expired."
Contact Bridges Customer Support at 1-800-281-1168, or Support Form to see if your Career Futures license was renewed. If it's the current version of Career Futures that's running, then check the date on the workstation. An incorrect date on a workstation or network can trigger the expiry message. Contact Bridges Customer Support to run an expiry fix.
- Workstation install vs. network server install?
First determine who will be using Career Futures, and if they need to save their information to a Career Futures session file. For example, if it's only the counselors who need to access Career Futures, and who are using Career Futures to get occupation information for individual students, then most likely a workstation install will suffice. However, if multiple classes need to access Career Futures from multiple labs, then a network server install would work better.
- Does our site license limit the number of computers on campus that can access Career Futures?
There is no limit. Career Futures can be installed on the network server (accessed by multiple computers on campus), or can be installed to individual workstations (but as many as you like). However, we do not recommend doing both types of installs. Career Futures cannot be installed on computers that are not on campus.
- Our middle schools use Career Futures and our high schools use Choices. Can Career Futures student session files be transferred to the high school?
Career Futures session files can be opened up within the Choices program, and will then convert automatically into a Choices session file. Technicians can transfer Career Futures session files to the high school by saving the files to disk or by copying these files to the high school server.
