Exploration is the motivational foundation for planning. This workshop provides you with valuable resources and hands-on training focused on developing students' exploration skills. Learn how to enhance self-knowledge and awareness of emerging opportunities with activities that develop students' self-assessment and work/life research skills.
Each participant in the Exploration Skills Workshop receives an educator workbook containing lesson plans and black line masters for the student's workbook. The curriculum is designed to deliver specific outcomes that define a student who demonstrates exploration-oriented skills.
Workshop Outcomes:
- Understand the Explore Plan Achieve method for student planning and self-management
- Identify 10 different personal motivations
- Use personal motivations to discover interesting work and life activities
- Use the lesson activities to teach exploration skills to individuals, small groups or classrooms
- Define key ‘next steps' for introducing planning and self-management training in your school
Workshop Agenda:
- Introduction - overview of the day's activities, meet other workshop participants
- Explore Plan Achieve - a 30-minute overview of this planning and self-management method
- Motivations: Interests - hands-on experience with Lesson 1 of the exploration unit
- Motivations: Values - hands-on experience with Lessons 2 and 3 of the exploration unit
- Work/Life Research - hands-on experience with Lessons 4, 5 and 6 of the exploration unit
- Teaching Exploration Skills - a review of the outcomes, activities and evaluation process
- Next Steps - implementation planning for integration of exploration activities in your school
- Evaluation/Reflection - teaching educators to create personal meaning from learning activities
- Summary - a review of workshop outcomes, final comments
