Bridges Introduces Career Explorer On-Line To The Adult, University And College Markets
KELOWNA, BRITISH COLUMBIA - February 12, 1996 - The Bridges Initiatives Inc. (ASE:BIT), one of Canada's foremost providers of career and life skills information via the World Wide Web, today announced the introduction of its on-line information service, Career ExplorerÔ to the Canadian adult, university and college markets. With an estimated 1.4 million Canadian adults unemployed in 1995, the need for up-to-date and relevant career information is growing. Career Explorer On-line is an invaluable resource for those individuals in search of quality information in today's changing job market. In conjunction with introducing Career Explorer to the adult, university and college markets, Bridges is pleased to welcome the following new subscribers: College of the Rockies - Cranbrook, B.C.; Mission Community Skills Centre - Mission, B.C.; One Stop Career Centres of Canada Ltd. - Kelowna, B.C.; and the Edmonton Youth Employment Services Centre - Edmonton, Alberta. "Students must have the best tools at their disposal when making career decisions," said Rhonda Webster, the career development officer at the College of the Rockies. "The Career Explorer On-line service is a resource that goes beyond providing the latest labor market information. It encourages students to become true career strategists." About Career Explorer The Career Explorer On-line Information service is delivered through the World Wide Web (Internet). Career Explorer features up-to-date resources that help young people and adults in transition prepare for the future. Updated daily, 16 different types of articles, focusing on career information, self-assessment, skill development and the labor markets, are produced and made available to Career Explorer On-line subscribers. The on-line service provides the most current information about emerging employment opportunities and the necessary skills required to access those opportunities. Subscribers access Career Explorer On-line using either Netscape Communication's Netscape Navigator 2.0® or Spyglass's Mosaic® Internet browser. For those subscribers without Internet access, a snapshot of the Career Explorer On-line service is produced and made available on CD-ROM for both the PC and Macintosh platforms. The CD-ROM version of Career Explorer is available for network or stand-alone use.
