Bridges And Landmark Raise $30,000 At
Charity Garage Sale
For immediate release August 7, 2004 Kelowna, B.C - Bridges Transitions Inc. ("the Company") (TSX: BIT) a leading provider of products and services used by schools, universities and agencies to help people achieve education and career success -- and Landmark Technology Centre - the next step in the creation of a world class business district in Kelowna's Silicon Vineyard -- are pleased to announce the total of today's GIANT charity garage sale. Over $30,000 was raised today at the garage sale, with all proceeds going to Kelowna's Run for the Cure and Kelowna General Hospital Foundation's 180 Degrees. "Over $15,000 was raised at the garage sale itself," says Doug Manning, president of Bridges. "Both Bridges and Landmark Centre are also donating $7,500 each to Run for the Cure and Kelowna General Hospital Foundation's 180 Degrees (respectively). We are thrilled to be able to say at the end of the day that we have $30,000 to give to these charities." ($22,500 will go to Kelowna's Run for the Cure and $7,500 will go to 180 Degrees) On Saturday, August 7 from 10am until 2pm, over 500 people came to the garage sale at the Landmark Centre parking lot to pick up some great deals on office furniture and older-model computer equipment. There were over 200 interested shoppers lined up outside the gates before the sale even started at 10am. "It's great that we could come here to hunt for bargains and even greater that all the money we are spending is going to charity," said one shopper. "Bridges has moved to the Landmark Technology Centre II building and we have all new office furniture and computers here," explains Manning. "We had quite a bit of excess inventory from our old location and thought that holding the garage sale and donating all proceeds to charity would be a great way to give back to the community as well as launching our own internal fundraising efforts for Run for the Cure." Today's sale included over one thousand items, such as: over 30 desks, over 15 filing cabinets, tables, bookcases, over 60 office chairs, over 20 halogen lamps, over 50 corkboards, over 50 older-model CPU towers, over 40 monitors, and boxes of keyboards, mice, computer speaker sets, monitor stands, desk lamps and more!
