Bridges Offers New Edition of testGEAR® For immediate release November 22, 2004 Kelowna, B.C - Bridges Transitions Inc. (TSX: BIT), a leading provider of products and services used by schools, universities and agencies to help individuals achieve education and career success, today announced an important new edition to its online testGEAR® product line. Available for immediate use to schools in the United States, Bridges has just released its testGEAR for the new SAT® online course, to help those students that will be taking the new SAT test this spring. The current SAT is a three-hour, nationally standardized test taken by students wanting to gain admittance to American colleges. The test measures verbal and mathematical reasoning skills. It's an independent, standardized measure of a student's college readiness based on the test's design to predict college success. Colleges across the United States look at SAT scores, in combination with a number of other factors, before accepting students into their schools. The SAT is typically taken by high school juniors and seniors. The new SAT starts in March with some major changes designed to improve its conformity with current high school and college curriculum and practices. The new SAT will emphasize writing throughout a student's education. In addition to a new writing section, the new SAT will also include an enhanced critical reading section, a more advanced math section, and a revised scoring system. The new test will now take students 3 hours, 45 minutes. "This new online course has just been added to Bridges' newly-launched testGEAR product line to deliver all the test prep instruction students need for improved performance on the new SAT," explained Keith Gaudreau, Test Prep product manager for Bridges Transitions. "Students across the United States are getting ready to write the new SAT in the spring. Our testGEAR for SAT is among the first online courses available to schools to help students prepare for the challenging new test." Gaudreau noted that, "To meet the new SAT requirements, we have expanded our testGEAR for SAT online course to include two brand-new full-length math tests and 13 brand-new writing practice tests. There are also 69 new or updated microcourses, and 30 new or updated practorials." testGear online courses were launched by Bridges at the start of this school year to provide schools with online, self-directed test prep courses proven effective in raising student achievement. testGEAR online test prep courses for high school exit exams and SAT, PSAT, and ACT college entrance exams help educators achieve their goals for school-wide improvement. "Our testGEAR product line is an example of how Bridges is adding new product lines to the mix -- enabling our sales people to offer more products to existing customers," explained John Simmons, Chief Executive Officer of Bridges. Educators using testGEAR courses report great student success, including higher academic performance and improved student confidence in their own skills. "testGEAR opened the doors to a bright future for all students, especially those who did not believe in their abilities to be successful, until after working with the testGEAR program," says Carolyn Darwish, Career Center Specialist from Seattle School District. "testGEAR motivated students to challenge themselves at their own pace, and to improve their academic performance. Students who studied with the testGEAR program improved their reading and math abilities." About Bridges For more information, visit http://www.bridges.com.
