Bridges Teams With Sallie Mae to Help High School Students Explore Career Opportunities

April 8, 2002

KELOWNA, B.C. -- Bridges.com Inc. (TSE: BIT) - A leading provider of career and educational planning solutions, is pleased to announce a new business partnership with Sallie Mae, the leading provider of higher education funding to American students. Under the partnership, Sallie Mae's online planning and paying for college resource, www.wiredscholar.com, will utilize Bridges' Career Advantage product, an online career exploration course that provides career guidance to college-bound students. Sallie Mae's wiredscholar.com is the foremost online resource for "going-to-college" information, and uses interactive tools and information to guide college-bound students, parents and guidance professionals through the planning and paying for college process.

The agreement will see a co-branded version of Career Advantage marketed to wiredscholar.com's existing customer base, which includes high school and college students, parents and guidance professionals. In addition, the program will be promoted through a direct-mail newsletter delivered to thousands of high schools in the United States. Collectively, the Career Advantage product will be marketed to more than one million members of the wiredscholar.com customer base.

"Bridges' unique Career Advantage program, united with wiredscholar.com's award-winning resources, will provide our users with access to the information they need to make wise decisions when it comes to career planning and paying for college," said David Cooper, Managing Director of wiredscholar.com.

Wiredscholar.com content will be integrated with Bridges' e-application resources, providing Bridges' users with comprehensive, co-branded financial aid content and electronic loan application functionality for both federal and private loans. Bridges will develop integrated training programs and resources such as lesson plans to raise awareness among career educators and college-bound students of these valuable financial aid resources.

Approximately 500,000 of the estimated 1.2 million graduating students who can already access Bridges' career and educational planning resources will gain direct access to and benefit from the addition of Sallie Mae's wiredscholar.com financial aid and student loan services.

"We are very pleased to work with Sallie Mae's wiredscholar.com division to introduce its content and online loan functionality to our graduating high school students," said Doug Manning, CEO and President of Bridges. "Combining Bridges' high school distribution network with Sallie Mae's comprehensive relationships with U.S. lending institutions will enable high school grads to more efficiently access financial assistance for post-secondary education."

An ongoing U.S. Bureau of Labour Statistics study has found that people average 9.2 career transitions between the ages of 18 and 34. Career Advantage is for people who may be in a career transition right now -- leaving school and joining the workforce, changing jobs or thinking about finding something else to do in life. Career Advantage helps subscribers stay informed and make plans, with features covering work trends, careers, recreation and education. Career planners also can explore what they would like to do in life by taking the online course and browsing hundreds of up-to-date and easy-to-read career and recreation profiles in the Career Advantage library.

"Career Advantage is a powerful, self-directed course for individuals experiencing a career or educational transition. By leveraging Sallie Mae's existing efforts in assisting the college-bound audience, Bridges can position this program quickly to a large number of potential customers. This is a great distribution opportunity for the Advantage course," said Mr. Manning.
