Functionality Enhancements

  • Related Search for "Looking at Occupations" -- The updated related search dialog makes it even easier for students to search for occupations.

  • Send Letters -- To eliminate confusion when sending letters, "Write letters" and "E-mail Letters" have been merged and renamed "Send Letters."

  • Send Mail -- The familiar default e-mail package will now be used to send mail, keeping the process straightforward for users.

  • Default Web Browser -- Career Futures will automatically select the appropriate browser, eliminating the need for users to choose a default browser.

  • Auto Save -- The new auto save feature prevents important user information from getting lost. It also provides a faster exit from Career Futures.

  • Career Futures Session File Dialog -- It is now easier to exit Career Futures with a new exit button that allows users to quit from the Career Futures Session Files dialog.

  • Operating System -- Technicians will encounter fewer problems when trying to install Career Futures CD, as it is now compatible with a wider selection of operating systems, including the 32-bit Windows platform.

Information and Resource Enhancements

  • Updated Content -- Information in the Career Futures databases is updated annually to provide you with the latest occupational and school information using sources such as the O*NET occupational database.

  • Updated Occupation and Education Information -- To help users stay better informed, Career Futures' Occupation and Education data has been substantially updated in the following areas:

      Occupations
    • Basic Skills
    • Earnings -- including narratives and graphs from the Bureau of Labor Statistics 2002 Occupation and Employment Statistics Survey
    • Outlook
    • For More Information
    • Websites
    • Education, Training and Work Experience (Levels and Narratives)
    • Related Resources
